Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to plan a trip here. This is what we did, what we did not, and how to tell us when we got it wrong.
Sample company
Primo Lume is fictional. This statement describes how this site was built and checked; a real business must confirm it matches what it ships, and name its own contact.
Written 5 October 2026.
Our aim
The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We treat that as the floor, not the finish.
What we did
- Real headings, landmarks and lists, so a screen reader can move by structure. One skip link at the top of every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, in a sensible order, with a visible focus ring. Menus, the search (press / or Ctrl or Cmd with K), the photo viewer, the date picker and the checkout are all keyboard-operable and trap focus only while they are open.
- Text and controls meet the contrast ratios in every one of the site's time-of-day colour schemes, checked automatically.
- Pages reflow from phone to widescreen, text can be enlarged to 200% without loss, and zoom is never disabled. Touch targets are at least 44 pixels.
- Motion respects the “reduce motion” setting: smooth scrolling, the animated scenes, the cursor and the reveals all switch off, and all content is visible without them.
- Every photograph has a written description, shown as a caption in the photo viewer. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Forms have visible labels and say what is wrong in words (not colour alone). On the enquiry form, focus moves to a list of the problems, each linking to its field, and what you typed is kept.
- Prices in other currencies are labelled as approximate. Nothing relies on colour alone to carry meaning.
How we checked
Every page is scanned with axe-core before each release, and we walk the main journeys (enquire, sign up, pay, review) with the keyboard. We have not yet had the site tested by disabled users, or with the full range of screen-reader and browser pairings. Automated tools find only part of the problems, so please read the next section.
Known limits
- The 3D Pantheon scene on the home page is decorative. It has a text equivalent and switches itself off when your device cannot run it, but it is not designed to be explored by screen reader.
- The card fields on the live checkout will be supplied by our payment provider, Stripe, whose own accessibility we do not control.
- Some tours include steps, cobbles and hills that no website can change. Each trip page says how active it is; ask us and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Tell us about a barrier
If something here is hard to use, write to ciao@primolume.example or call +39 06 0000 0000 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00 Rome time). Say what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We will reply within one working day, and fix it or tell you plainly when we will.
